Eye Primers and etc ^_^

When I started with makeup, I was so into eyeshadows. I didn't know any better and I always wondered why my eyeshadow fades within 30 minutes of application.  It has always been a problem. It took me awhile to realize that I was skipping an important step in my makeup application. I wasn't putting any primer or base on my eyelids.

What is an eye primer?
-Eye primer is a base that you put on your lids prior to eyeshadow application to even out the skintone, makes the eyeshadow last longer and some claim that it makes the color of the eyeshadow more vibrant and true to its color.

Its purpose is plain and simple right? But the number of different kinds of eye primer available in the market can be a bit overwhelming when you're trying to find the right one that works for you.

Photobucket

Studio Gear shadow primer $15.50

Photobucket
L'Oreal De-Crease Eye Shadow Base $7.99

Photobucket
Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Eye Tints Eyeshadow Primer $8.99

Photobucket
Amazing Cosmetics Eyeshadow Primer $16.00

Photobucket
Pur Minerals Mineral Eye Prep $17.00

Photobucket
ULTA eye primer
$12.00

Photobucket
Paula Dorf Eye Primer $25.00

Photobucket

Too Faced Shadow Insurance - Anti-Crease Eyeshadow Primer $17.00

Photobucket
Sally Hansen Fast Fix Eyeshadow Base $7.99

Photobucket
Benefit Cosmetics Lemon-Aid $20.00

Photobucket
Pop Beauty Eye Magnet Primer $18.00

Photobucket
CARGO OneBase From: $24.00

Photobucket
CARGO EyeBase $20.00

Photobucket
Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer $20.00

Photobucket
Aromaleigh

Photobucket
Cinema Secrets eye primer $14.99

Photobucket

ULTA Eye base $6.50

Photobucket
Mary Kay eye primer $12.00

Photobucket
Mac Prep and Prime Eye $16.50

Photobucket
Urban Decay Primer Potion $16.00
my very first eye primer

I'm pretty sure these are all great products. On the other hand, I've tried some of them and it just didn't work for me. I've tried Urban Decay primer potion, Too Faced shadow insurance and Mac's Prep and Prime eye. Even with a tiny amount blended evenly on the lids, It still didn't work. Creasing of eyeshadows occured within an hour or two.

But I found out a product that has been sitting in my makeup kit that works so well as an eye primer. My liquid concealer!! Yes, it actually works!

Photobucket
A photo of my eye lid. Its oily and the skintone is uneven.

Photobucket
I like to use Almay line smoothing concealer for its creamy texture and anti aging properties. This can be found at any drugstore. You can also use a liquid foundation.

Photobucket
I love the wand applicator.

Photobucket
I simply apply an efficient amount on my lid

Photobucket
I blend it carefully with my finger. Never tug! Tugging and pulling causes wrinkles.

Photobucket
I use my favorite face powder (Mark's powder buff) or you can use a translucent powder and apply it on top of the concealer.

Photobucket
The powder will set the concealer in place.

Photobucket
It's done. I just created a smooth and crease free canvas for my eyeshadows.

Keep in mind that we all have different eyelids so this may or may not work for you. This is what works for me and I like to share it with all of you ^_^

What is your eye primer??

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyday Pin Up. Look #2 using Super Flip by Mark.

I was able to create another look using Super Flip by Mark. I really love the versatility of this palette. I created a wearable pin up look. Its wearable because I didn't do the dramatic cat eye liner and bright red lips. Anyone can surely pull this off. Check out my review on the Super Flip http://iambeautiful20.blogspot.com/2009/10/product-rave-super-flip-by-mark.html

This was very easy to achieve. I used Giola and Rockin' (bronzey red)on the crease blending it upward above the crease. I used a blending brush and dipped it in both colors.

Lava (charcoal) was used to deepen the crease with a small crease brush. I literally drew on the crease and stopped halfway in. Nudie (pale nude)was applied wet on the lids and brown bone and lastly a liquid liner was applied very thinly on the upper lashline to frame the eyes.

cheeks:

Photobucket

I used NYC sun to sun bronzing powder. I used the bronze side on my cheeks.

lips:

Lip balm and nude lip liner was applied on the lips. Then Racy (soft red)was applied as the lip color and topped it off with Spiced (shimmery red gloss).

Makeup 101: Study your eyes/Eye Map

Hello readers! Eye makeup is the most exciting part of makeup application. This is the first thing everyone wants to learn when it comes to makeup. You can definitely change your look in an instant with eye makeup. So I created 2 basic eye map to show different parts of the eye and where to apply the eyeshadows. This is for beginners and, I hope this helps!

Before we jump into application, I highly recommend that you study the parts of your eyes first. Feel it!! It will be easier to figure out where to apply the colors.

Naked Eye Map

Photobucket
Keep in mind that we all have different eye shapes. Obviously, my eyes are not the same as yours. We may have the same parts but where they are located may be different. For example, finding the crease can be a little tricky. Some people have defined crease which is very visible while some people doesn't.

Photobucket

A little trick to find your crease is use the end of your brush and slightly poke around your eye socket. Be gentle!!

Basic Eye Shadow Application Map

Photobucket

-I used a shimmery white eyeshadow to highlight brown bone
-A Contour color such as a black eyeshadow is applied on the crease to add definition. I applied it heavily because I was going for a night time look.
-I used a grayish/greenish eyeshadow all over the lid are. I made a shape under my crease.
-I used the same eye shadow I used on my crease to darken my Outer V. I like to do circular motion with my crease brush and drag it on the crease. I do this several times until I get the desired intensity.
-A black liquid eye liner is applied on the upper lash line to frame the eye.You can use a pencil instead for an easier application.
-The same eyeshadow used on the lid was brushed lightly on the lower lash line. (this is optional)
-A black eye liner pencil is used on the water line.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The steps I mentioned is just a basic way to apply colors on your eye. You can substitute whatever color you like. A simple tip you can follow is always use a darker color on the crease and lighter color on the lid. There are other ways to apply eye shadows on the eye but I'll get into that in another post.

Thank you to all my new followers and new blogger friends. You are all wonderful. Thank you for reading my blog. Your honest opinions and comments matters to me.

Review: Shine Fighter Oil Control Mask by MARK.

Shine Fighter Oil-Control Mask
with Apricot and Sugar cane

Photobucket

I have very oily skin and, I deal with oil and shine every single day. I've used blotting sheets, oil control powders and etc. Nothing seems to help until I used this wonderful product. This mask is a must have in my skin care right now because it does what it says.

What is it?  Shine Fighter is part of Mark's skin care line. It is an oil-absorbing clay (kaolin) -based mask that delivers skin-balancing and pore-cleansing benefits for a super complexion. It has naturally exfloliating sugar cane that enhances skin tone and texture while apricot serves up a dose of vitamin A and C. It's the best way to keep shine in check. It has 100 ml, 3.4 fl oz

How to use it:

Photobucket
-You must cleanse your face first.
-Squeeze a desired amount out of the tube.

Photobucket
-You may need more than this.
-It looks a bit green at first but it will turn white.

Photobucket
-Spread an even layer all over the face.
-Stay away from the eye area.

Photobucket
-The mask turns white after a couple of minutes.
-Let it sit on the face for 5 minutes.
-The mask will tighten.

Photobucket
-After 5 minutes, rinse with warm water.
-Pat your skin to dry and moisturize. I use a mattifying lotion.
-All done!! I love how my skin feels.
-Use 2-3 times a week to see results.

Rating: 5 out of 5
Pros:
-After using it, my skin felt smoother and tighter. I use it 3x a week and my face seems a little less oily. My natural oils still comes out but not as bad as before.
-It does soak up the oil.
-I don't feel like a grease ball when I wake up in the morning.
-I notice my pores were minimized a bit.
-It doesn't irritate my skin
-Its very easy to remove. Its not messy.
-Awesome price $7.00

Cons:
-It smells like freshly cut Avocados instead of Apricots lol. I like it but some may not.

Face Fact:
-Your face is the oiliest when you wake up in the morning and in the afternoon-

You can purchase this at my E-botique

DIY: MARK CD eyeshadow palette ^_^

When boredom hits, anything is possible ^_^ I made an eyeshadow palette out of a CD case. I had a bunch of I-Mark eye shadows that needed a home and at the same time, my mom had so many empty CD cases laying around the house. A light bulb went on my head!!

What I used:
-an empty CD case
-a cut-out of a photo from an old Mark catalog.
-scissors
-soft cardboard or poster board (optional)
-magnet sheets (I used those thin magnets on our refrigirator)

Photobucket
-I used my mom's empty Alabama #1 Hits cd ..YEAHH!!

Photobucket
-I removed the front and back cover and the middle part

Photobucket
-It  looked something like this ^_^

Photobucket
-I looked for cool photo that I will use for the front and back cover. Since I'm going to put my I-Mark eyeshadows, I went ahead and chose a photo of Mark eyeshadows from an old Mark catalog.

Photobucket
-I placed the empty CD on top of the photo and, I trace around it and cut it.
-the cut-out photo will be bigger than the CD case so I had to cut it once again to fit the CD.

Photobucket
-I pasted the photo underneath a poster board so the photo will be firm enough to be used as a cover.
-I did the same thing for the back cover.

Photobucket
-I got some magnet sheets. I guess that's what you call these. But i got these on our fridge lol They're very thin magnets with ads in the front. The car shaped is from a carpet cleaning company. It's funny right?

Photobucket
- I taped the magnets inside. The I-Mark eyeshadows are magnetized so this will work.

Photobucket
- I placed my I-Mark eyeshadows in their new home ^_^

Photobucket
- 12 eye shadows fit inside. I left spaces in between so I can easily remove them.

Photobucket
-I turned it over and whew...im sure glad the eyeshadows didn't fall lol

Photobucket
-next to my medium size Mark palette. I could have gotten a bigger palette but eh?

Photobucket
-See, I can remove it easily.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Its so pretty and I love it.

I hope this gives you an idea on how to make your own eye shadow palette using what you already have at home. Ofcourse you can do whatever you want. You can place other brand of eyeshadows and use a photo you like. You dont have to necessarily do it the way I did it. Let your creative juices flow!!

Have a great one readers!

I-Mark eyeshows are available at my e-botique

Makeup 101: Study Your Face.

I get often asked by my friends and fellow bloggers, "hey, how do you do your makeup?" I share tips or advice and I feel like its not enough to really to make them fully understand the wonderful things about makeup. Theres more to makeup than putting colors on the face. Makeup can enhance, define and even alter your features. You can be who ever you want to be or simply use makeup as a boost to your confidence.

Im not a professional but in a short span of time, I have learned enough to say I'm sorta good at it. I'm still learning and it's a never ending learning experience.

So here is a Face Map. A lot of people just dive into learning how to put eye shadows right away. In my opinion, It is very important to know the parts of your face first before everyting else. It seems silly but trust me its really crucial to know this. It will help you with your makeup application.

Photobucket
Im only wearing concealer under the eye area, sheer powder all over the face, lip liner and a nude lipstick.

Ofcourse we all have different face structure. I suggest that you look in the mirror and study your face. Feel your eyes and the placement of the bones. It may sound silly but just do it. Trust me. It will be more easier to enhance your all over appearance if you fully understand the parts of your face ^_^

Look for these things:
-hairline
-temple
-brow and natural arch
-brow bone
-crease of the eyelid (this varies for all kinds of eye shape)
-lashline
-waterline
-undereye area
-tear duct
-bridge of the nose
-tip of the nose
-apple of the cheek
-hollow of the cheek
-corner of the mouth
-peaks of the lip/bow- I forgot to label this in the chart.
-jawline
-tip of the chin

This post is for my friends and fellow bloggers who are beginners in makeup. I hope this helps.

If you like this please vote on the left side of this blog. Thank you!!
